Accelerating the Global Energy Transition

With benefits extending far beyond reduced emissions, the global energy transition has the potential to advance multiple social, economic and environmental benefits including, employment, education, potential GDP growth, energy access, and reduced air pollution and health impacts. National and local governments around the world, civil society and the private sector are embarking on a pathway to achieve the greatest energy transformation since the start of the Industrial Revolution.

To explore cutting edge ideas and innovation at the forefront of renewable energy development and deployment, IRENA, in concert with the Government of Fiji in its capacity as COP President, the Governments of Germany and the United Arab Emirates, as well as Deutsche Post DHL, is holding a high-level event on the margins of COP23.

Bringing together leading thinkers and doers in the energy sector, the conference will highlight:

  • success stories featuring cross-border and cross-sector integration and cooperation
  • benefits of energy transformation and engaging a broad spectrum of actors
  • paradigm-shifting technologies and approaches
